Albert Einstein: "Man is here for the sake other men..."

“Strange is our situation here on Earth. Each of us comes for a short visit, not knowing why, yet sometimes seeming to divine a purpose. From the standpoint of daily life, however, there is one thing we do know: that man is here for the sake of other men - above all for those upon whose smiles and well-being our own happiness depends.”

So often we hear about finding our "Life's Purpose"... or our "Destiny" ... our "Calling." Yet as human beings living in today's society, we're usually stuck, finding ourselves at a loss as to what this actually means, looks like, or how to find out what the hell it actually is.

We spend our lives trying to "find" what we're "passionate" about; what gives us energy; what we absolutely love to do. What we'll sacrifice sleep, food, time, social life, etc. for... All for the greater treasure of that ONE THING.

That ONE THING, whatever it is for us, is what we strive for. It's what made Steve Jobs the man he was. It's what makes Elon Musk, or Diddy, or Denzel, or Oprah successful. Their sense of purpose, yes...but what's more is their sense of contribution.

What is that ONE THING?

Well, first of all, I don't think it's just one thing. It's a combination of things that make up who we are: interests, skills, curiosities, environments, natural talents, and our heart.

Now, we could break each one of these components down into how we can use them to inform our direction in life. But let's just explore the last one in the above list.

As human beings, I believe the primary power that drives us is the POWER OF LOVE (which leads to contribution btw).

And as we explore ourselves, our surroundings, society, and beyond, we find different things that make us happy, joyful, energized, and fulfilled. Conversely, we find things that make us feel bored, tired, pissed off, depressed, and drained.  In which state do you live more? I would argue that the positive feelings we experienced are the result of doing something(s) that we truly love. The question is: what are the things that make us feel those positive feelings? And what is it about those things that makes us love them so much?

What fills your heart?

For me, it's Connecting. Connecting people with opportunities that bring them value (contribution - go figure)...Making life better, easier, more fun, creating enriching experiences ways that truly adds value to their life. This shows up in my everyday life in the following ways:

  1. Bringing positive energy

  2. Authentic & Genuine connections

  3. Spending time with my son

  4. Being in nature

  5. Writing

  6. Curating experiences for myself and others

  7. Practicing Gratitude

  8. Youth work

  9. Putting others before myself

  10. Mentoring
